"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action" - George Washington.

Why the U.N. is useless

It is striking to me that despite the current events going on in Syria, where the government is brutally killing its own civilians to prevent peaceful protests, did not change the plans for Syria to join the Human Rights Council later this year. The human rights council is yet another anti-Israeli organization in the U.N.
As of 2010, Israel had been condemned in 32 resolutions by the Council since its creation in 2006. The 32 resolutions comprised 47.76% of all resolutions passed by the Council. By April 2007, the Council had passed nine resolutions condemning Israel, the only country which it had specifically condemned. Toward Sudan, another country with human rights abuses as documented by the Council's working groups, it has expressed "deep concern". They have done nothing to help with problems around the world in Darfur or anywhere else where serious abuses of Human Rights are going on. All they are concentrated on is bashing Israel. Current members of the Council: Cuba, Cameroon, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, among other countries with an awesome record protecting human rights.
The council voted on 30 June 2006 to make a review of alleged human rights abuses by Israel a permanent feature of every council session. The Council’s special rapporteur on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is its only expert mandate with no year of expiry. The resolution, which was sponsored by Organization of the Islamic Conference, passed by a vote of 29 to 12 with five abstentions. Human Rights Watch urged it to look at international human rights and humanitarian law violations committed by Palestinian armed groups as well. Human Rights Watch called on the Council to avoid the selectivity that discredited its predecessor and urged it to hold special sessions on other urgent situations, such as that in Darfur.
The Special Rapporteur on the question of Palestine to the previous UNCHR, the current UNHRC and the General Assembly was, between 2001 and 2008, John Dugard. Bayefski quotes him as saying that his mandate is to "investigate human rights violations by Israel only, not by Palestinians". Dugard was replaced in 2008 with Richard Falk, who has compared Israel's treatment of Palestinians with the Nazis' treatment of Jews during the Holocaust. Like his predecessor, Falk's mandate only covers Israel’s human rights record.

Israel has never been elected as a member in either the Human Rights Council or the Security Council, despite being the only democracy in the Middle East and one of the most free countries in the world, whereas countries such as Lebanon, China and Russia are members today(the last two being permanent members), and in the past members such as Syria(which was also a member at 1948 the same year that Arab states attacked Israel), Egypt(member in 1949), Libya and more. Despite the recent events in Syria, the Security Council which is resolution happy where Israel is concerned, did not manage to pass a resolution regarding
the situation due to Lebanon, Russia and China objection.

Russia, a member of the security council, is the same country that is building Iran's nuclear reactors. Russia beats the crap(for lack of a better expression) out of Chechnya or Georgia each time these try to get up off the ground, but then condemnes other countries trying to defend themselves such as Israel, and protects countries committing atrocities such as Libya and Syria. Russia has been a long time supporter of Arab nations around Israel and has provided support both financially and militarily to the countries which attacked Israel. China has been repressing Tibet for decades, and does not have the best human rights record. But as long as we can trust the great security council, the world will be fine!

The U.N. has passed more resolutions condemning Israel than it has all other nations combined
A research up till the 90's reveals the following:

175 Total Resolutions
74 Neutral
4 Against the perceived interests of an Arab state or body
97 Against Israel

Things since then have not improved at all even though no official data that I could find is available about the Security Council, but as we could see in the Human Rights council the bias is still against Israel. For more info:

The U.N. has made a mockery out of itself. It is a joke. But it is a very expensive joke. The American taxpayer, which is the biggest contributor to the U.N. in the world and pays 22% of its budget every year, wastes hundreds of millions of dollars a year on this joke. And that does not even include peacekeeping missions.
