שימו לב לגרף הבא של הדאו מתומחר בזהב. אנו רואים מגמת עליה ברורה, נקייה ונהירה לאורך למעלה ממאה. כמובן שהיו מהמורות בדרך אבל בסה"כ השוק עלה.
Notice the next chart of the Dow priced in Gold. We see a clear, clean, uptrend over more than a century. Of course there were bumps along the way but in the end the market rose.

Now look at the next chart, and try to think what happened along the way to cause it to look like this.
התשובה - בשנת 1913 נוצר הפד. ניתן לראות שכל מה שהוא גרם מאז הן תנודות הרבה יותר גדולות, אך ריאלית ולא נומינלית, לא בוצעה שום התקדמות, והשוק היום ברמה נמוכה יותר ממה שהיה בשנת 1929(!). יש קריסה של ממש בעשור האחרון במחירים האמיתיים של הדאו, ורק הדאו הנומינלי גורם לאנשים עדיין להאמין שהם מרוויחים כסף.
The answer - In 1913 the FED was created. We can see that all it has caused since then are sharper moves, but in real terms and not nominal, no progress has been made, and the market today is lower than it was in 1929(!). There is a real crash in the past decade in real values of the Dow, and it is only the nominal Dow which causes people to still believe that they are making money.
